A few years later, Mary appeared again, this time to a crippled boy selling buttermilk. After he offered his drink to the Mother and Child, Mary instructed him to go to a nearby town and ask a Catholic gentleman to build a chapel in her honor. As the boy stood up to deliver the message, he realized his crippled legs had been completely and miraculously healed.

A Portuguese merchant ship sailing in the Bay of Bengal was caught in a violent, life-threatening storm. The desperate sailors prayed to the Virgin Mary, vowing to build a church in her honor wherever they safely landed. Miraculously, the storm calmed, and the ship washed ashore at Velankanni on September 8th, the Feast of the Nativity of Mary. True to their word, the sailors transformed the humble thatched chapel built by the locals into a permanent stone structure, dedicating it to Our Lady of Good Health.
