Our Lady of Cimbres

In August 1936, in the rugged and remote terrain of Cimbres near Pesqueira, Brazil, two young girls named Maria da Luz and Maria da Conceição experienced a profound spiritual encounter. Amidst a climate of intense local fear due to the threat of violent roaming bandits, the girls were gathering wild fruits when they suddenly saw a beautiful woman holding an infant, standing high upon a rocky outcrop. The apparition, recognized as the Virgin Mary holding the Child Jesus, radiated a brilliant, heavenly light. The visionaries described her as appearing sorrowful, dressed in a white mantle with a blue sash, and speaking to them with deep maternal concern.

During these visitations, Our Lady of Cimbres delivered urgent messages regarding the spiritual state of the world and her country. She warned of impending chastisements and the encroaching threat of communism in Brazil, urging the faithful to engage in fervent prayer, penance, and devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and her Immaculate Heart. To validate her presence and offer comfort to the people, a miraculous spring of water began to flow from the otherwise dry rock where she appeared. This water has since been associated with numerous physical healings and spiritual conversions, serving as a tangible sign of her grace and intercession.

The events of 1936 left an indelible mark on the region, transforming the remote site into a lasting sanctuary of pilgrimage and prayer. After decades of careful investigation and enduring devotion from the faithful, the apparitions were officially declared Bishop-Approved, affirming their supernatural character and spiritual fruitfulness. Today, the sanctuary of Our Lady of Cimbres continues to draw thousands of pilgrims who seek solace, healing, and a deeper connection to God, standing as a powerful reminder of Mary's protective presence and her timeless call to conversion and peace.
